You can generate a lot of awareness by writing letters to the press. Quite often articles and letters get basic facts wrong - e.g. Nuclear Power produces no greenhouse emissions. Remember that the letters page is sometimes the most read part of the newspaper.
Eastern Region CND recently received several applications to join from one article in a parish magazine.
If you feel confident enough then we are often looking for people to do press work for various actions and demos. This involves sending out a press release, doing followup phone calls etc. Please contact us if you are interested in helping out in this area.
If you have access to the internet then it is easy to do research into various issues. There are a large number of links on our links page that will help you start. However, do not trust everything that is on the web since there is a lot of inaccurate and misleading information out there. Find out what the original source of that information is a check it. Sometimes, if the source is not quoted, it is possible to contact the author and ask where they got their information from.
It is better to get focused and research in depth. Basic information has usually been researched and written up already.
