Nuclear Power

Sizewell

Sizewell has two nuclear power stations - Sizewell 'A' and Sizewell 'B'. Sizewell 'A' is now being decommissioned and the radio active rods will be sent via rail up to Sellafield.

Earlier this year 40,000 gallons of radioactive water leaked out.

It also seems likely that Sizewell will be a site for any 'new build' power stations.

Bradwell

Bradwell is in the process of being decommissioned and it is believed that its highly radioactive fuel rods have been removed and sent to Sellafield. This still leaves a lot of radioactive material to be cleared up.

For an update on what is happening at Sizewell and Bradwell see this article in our newsletter.

Nuclear Trains

Trains carrying waste from Sizewell and Bradwell regularly make trips through this region. To see where the trains go see your interactive map

Nuclear Waste Dump

Stanford Battle Area near Thetford has been suggested as a possible site for a nuclear waste dump. Not only will the dump be a danger but it will mean more radioactive waste travelling through the region.
