Conflict is inevitable, but combat is optional.

As from March, CND have been able to fund a campaigns worker for our region. That’s me! Mell Harrison. I have been a peace and anti-nuclear campaigner for over 15 years, the co-founder of Theatre of War (a political street theatre group), an active member of Lakenheath Action Group and many other campaigning groups in the area.
We are un-lucky in this region to have so many nuclear hot spots: USAF Lakenheath, Sizewell A and B, Bradwell, weekly nuclear waste trains chugging through the area, and the possibility of nuclear waste dumping in Thetford, interim storage of nuclear submarines at Sizewell and of course the crazy idea of ‘New’ nuclear power stations…..
But we are also lucky enough to have so many knowledgeable and passionate campaigners and action groups.
I have many ideas and plans to build on the existing support for CND in the region and would like to start by visiting as many groups as possible. We can skill share and see how best to support each other to stop the new building of nuclear power stations, stop the replacement of Trident, get rid of the American NATO nuclear weapons in Suffolk and more.
In this news letter the main focus will be on the issue of‘ new nuclear power stations, we need to move fast. There is also a break down of all the nuclear issues we need to be looking at in the region.
Each news letter will focus in more detail on one of the issues and include an events guide, contacts and updates.
I hope this useful campaigning tool and please let me know if you have anything to add to the next issue or if I can help you in your areas at all.
In peace, Mell x
