Trident Replacement

Ten reasons ‘to’ replace Trident:

  1. It puts money into the pockets of the nuclear industry, all friends of the government.
  2. It makes the UK look really hard.
  3. It puts a smile on the faces of the guys from the U.S. Pentagon.
  4. Allows Aldermaston a reason to employ lots of American scientists
  5. It is the biggest stick to bully people with.
  6. We need to be able to kill 120 million people at the press of a button. (if the Americans say it is OK)
  7. It encourages other states to acquire new nuclear weapon.
  8. It stops us wasting money on things like hospitals and pensions
  9. It keeps up the tradition of the UK breaking international treaties
  10. Combats global warming by giving us a nuclear winter…

So as you can see, we really do need to blow up the half the world at a moment of our own choosing, well that is if G.W Bush says, “Gee Mr Blair go ahead…..”

But really

It costs loads, its dangerous, its indiscriminate, it’s against the NPT, it does not help defend our country against terrorists, and it’s just damn terrible.

So what can we do as a region to help stop the replacement of Trident? National CND have a briefing pack and a petition we can all use to get out on the street, spread the word, write to our M.P’s and make a difference.

Next issue of will be concentrating on this issue. Until then, contact me if you need a speaker, want to run a stall ( I have lots of leaflets, petitions, information, badges, stickers, posters…) need any help write to your M.P asking them to sign EDM 1197, and write to the local press telling them how you feel about the replacement of trident..
